PROGRAM?
THE SELF CARE RITUALS PROGRAM IS A 1:1 VIRTUAL 12 WEEK OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY PELVIC PAIN PROGRAM. WE FOCUS INITIALLY ON NERVOUS SYSTEM REGULATION AND RETRAINING TO PREPARE THE MIND, BODY, AND SPIRIT FOR SAFETY AND HEALING.
THIS PROGRAM UTILIZES PAIN NEUROSCIENCE EDUCATION AND AN EVIDENCE-BASED NERVOUS SYSTEM REGULATION PROTOCOL CALLED THE SAFE AND SOUND PROTOCOL (SSP), WHICH IS A 5 HOUR LISTENING THERAPY DIVIDED INTO MULTIPLE ONE-ON-ONE SESSIONS WITH THE THERAPIST TO INCREASE YOUR PERSONAL UNDERSTANDING OF SAFETY WITHIN THE BODY.
THE MUSIC OF THE SSP IS DESIGNED TO STIMULATE THE VAGUS NERVE, WHICH CAN HELP TO CALM THE NERVOUS SYSTEM, DECREASE INFLAMMATION IN THE BODY, IMPROVE BRAIN-BODY CONNECTION AND PROMOTE A FELT SENSE OF SAFETY AND WELL-BEING.
THE SELF CARE RITUALS PROGRAM OFFERS A DEEP DIVE INTO CONNECTING YOUR PHYSICAL, MENTAL & EMOTIONAL WELLBEING. YOU WILL FILL OUT VARIOUS ASSESSMENTS LOOKING AT HOW DIFFERENT SENSATIONS AFFECT YOU, HOW YOU ARE COPING WITH THE MENTAL LOAD OF PERSISTENT PAIN, AND HOW YOUR POSTURE, DAILY ROUTINES, AND RELATIONSHIPS AFFECT YOUR OVERALL HEALTH.

This is the first and only program of its kind—a truly holistic, nervous system–centered journey created specifically for teens and women navigating pelvic and abdominal pain concerns due to Endometriosis. This program was carefully crafted with one intention: to walk WITH you through your healing journey in a way that’s safe, doable, and deeply personal.

Inside the Self-Care Rituals Program, you’ll get 12 weeks of guided nervous system work, completion of an evidence-based nervous system regulation protocol, gentle movement specific to your needs, anatomy education, coping and mindfulness practices that reconnect you to your body and your meaningful goals. Pelvic Health Occupational Therapy is a specialized area of Occupational Therapy that evaluates and treats conditions related to the pelvic floor and the impact it has on your daily routines, habits, and roles (as a student, wife, friend, mother, etc). We specialize in how your daily occupations (self care routines, sleep, work, intimacy, leisure, education, play, social participation, and health management) are affected by your pelvic floor dysfunction. We work together to identify & overcome barriers in order to live a more fulfilling life and incorporate strategies to improve your mental, emotional, and pelvic health. At OCCUPELVIC HEALTH & WELLNESS we specialize in evidence-based nervous system regulation to help get to the root cause of your pelvic floor dysfunction. You are a whole person-you deserve care that looks beyond just the physical symptoms you’re experiencing.

Self-care rituals are intentional, compassionate actions that support your body, your nervous system, and your emotional health—especially when you’re living with persistent pain.
For women with endo, pelvic pain, or pelvic floor dysfunction, self-care rituals are how you:

If you have Endometriosis, persistent pelvic pain, Interstitial Cystitis, Vaginismus and symptoms affect your everyday activities like toileting, intimacy, sleep, work, and exercising— this program is for you!

Book a discovery call so we can ensure this program meets your expectations. After you sign up for the program, you will be sent onboarding paperwork where we will make sure you are set up with your Unyte Listening App for the Safe & Sound Protocol. After that, you will fill out additional forms to give us a better understanding of your nervous system and challenges you have been facing. We will then book your Initial Evaluation where we go over our specialty nervous system measures and dive into addressing what’s been holding you back. This is a 90 minute virtual video call. Our follow up calls are 60 minutes.

3 one-on-one virtual calls each month with our Pelvic Health Occupational Therapist, Karla Ehlers
1 year access to the Unyte Listening App for the Safe & Sound Protocol. This 5 hour evidence based nervous system regulation protocol will be completed with your therapist throughout the 12 weeks & also on your own as your home program.
Evidence-based measurements of your nervous system function before and after to guide your plan of care, understanding and track progress.
Scheduled reflection call towards the end of the program to review what you’ve learned about yourself, goals you’ve met and setting new goals for yourself. Ensuring the routines you’ve created for yourself are flexible and work with your nervous system.
Provided a ‘menu’ of options we can address for what is showing up for you each session: addressing physical, mental, or emotional needs that you and your body need.

Occupelvic Health and Wellness offers cash based services. When you go through insurance for occupational therapy, the insurance company dictates the treatment plan. This means that your insurance company gets to determine what treatments you are and aren’t allowed to receive, how much time you are allowed to see me for each session, how may sessions you are allowed to have, and what symptoms/issues are allowed to be addressed. A cash-based model allows us to do what is best for you during your treatment without having to get approval from your insurance company.

The Self-Care Rituals Program is a virtual, 12-week pelvic pain program that’s unlike anything else out there. You’ll move through four intentional phases using OCCUPELVIC HEALTH AND WELLNESS individualized Holistic Pelvic Health Framework—a deeply supportive approach that weaves together your mind, body, and spirit so you can reconnect with yourself and create the life you actually want to live.
Week 1
Phase 1 -Data Collection & Goal Setting
During your 90 minute Initial Evaluation, we will review your history and intake forms collaboratively to get a holistic overview of your health and wellbeing. Your functional goals are always at the forefront of this program. What goals will make your life more meaningful? What’s holding you back from achieving them? You likely have been so overwhelmed with your medical appointments, procedures, pain, and dysfunction that we truly are looking at your basic self care needs in the beginning: improving your ability to sleep, eat, toilet, bathe, and intimacy. Whatever you are struggling with--we can work together to get to the root cause.
Week 2-7
Phase 2 - Relearning
We utilize the Safe and Sound Protocol to weave in evidence-based nervous system strategies to help your body rewire connections to feel safe, grounded, and present in your daily life. The protocol is 5 hours of listening, broken up into smaller segments with our therapist and on your own. This phase lasts several weeks due to many factors like support, mental health, and duration of time you’ve been affected by your health concerns. In addition to the listening therapy, we will continue to address your bowel, bladder, intimacy, and pain through evidence based approaches.
Week 8-11
We will integrate what you have learned about yourself and your body into your daily habits and routines. Implementing strategies for a long-lasting meaningful lifestyle. Here you will notice old habits try to make their way back into your life. But now you will have the awareness to say “hello” and have the confidence to implement the strategies you learned in Phase 2 for long-lasting results. Integration is filled with self-compassion for yourself and your nervous system-after all, your nervous system just wants to feel safe.

Phase 4 - Reassessing
At this level you’ve made a lot of progress & learned so much about yourself and your body throughout this program -we are consistently refocusing on what YOU need and want to achieve to make your life more meaningful. At this point your nervous system will feel much safer and you will find more calm and peace within yourself. You will be able to set new goals for yourself that you never even dreamed possible. With our guidance, we break down these goals into less stressful and achievable daily, weekly activities in order to live your best life!
More about the Safe and Sound Protocol
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a powerful listening therapy designed to help regulate the nervous system, enabling better connection with oneself, others, and the surrounding world. By using specially filtered music, SSP sends cues of safety to the nervous system, building a foundation for awareness, embodiment, and resilience .
In the Self-Care Rituals Program, SSP is just one of the many tools available in your self-care toolbox. This program offers a variety of functional ways to find peace and safety within your body, tailored to resonate with your unique lifestyle. The emphasis is on a nervous system reset, allowing you to progress at your own pace without any rush.

Menstrual Pain:
Learning how our cycles fluctuate throughout the month can be our superpower! Tuning in to the changes mentally, emotionally, and physically can help us structure our monthly activities to work best with our cycles.
Bladder Issues:
Leaking, frequency, urges, and spasms are common bladder symptoms treated by pelvic floor therapy.
Pelvic Pressure & Pain:
Understanding and addressing our nervous system is key when working with persistent pain and other pelvic discomforts like heaviness and pressure. Our body can subconsciously hold tension in various parts of our body which can contribute to muscle imbalances in our pelvis. This is common in women with Endometriosis and Vaginismus. Persistent pain can also be due to overactive pain pathways and addressing the nervous system can help. Constipation, Bloating, IBS, Hemorrhoids (to name a few) can be addressed from a holistic lens: addressing your daily habits and nervous system to get to the root cause of your symptoms. If our body is in a persistent stressful state, it cannot run efficiently.
